Arena New Care spawns National Problem Solver Network

27.01.2012

Bindslev AS facilitated the Arena New Care Action Arena on January 10 and 11 in Gjøvik, north of Oslo. One of the many Arena outcomes from the workshop was a new Norwegian network for innovation in elderly care.

Bindslev Norway and Gjøvik University College invited 60 carefully selected experts from the health sector for this 2-day action arena aiming to further develop the solutions created during the first round 1 of the project, a workshop in August 2011.

The six groups dealt with topics such as innovation in care competences, universally designed living spaces both in institutions and in own homes and communication technology that can prevent loneliness and strengthen daily contact with the outside world both with relatives and medical expertise.

One of the workshop’s six groups focused on establishing a network for innovation in elderly care in Norway. A report commissioned by the government released in June 2011 (NOU 2011:11) stressed that Norway needs a national agency that can safeguard the necessary collaboration and knowledge-sharing between a range of different health clusters and initiatives. The group decided by the end of the arena to take the matter into own hands: they are establishing the network themselves.

-Arena New Care concluded that the University of Agder and Gjøvik University College will take this opportunity to establish a national innovation network in the healthcare sector, says Dean Roger Lian from the department for healthcare at Gjøvik University College.

Bindslev is proud to see the network come to life, and wishes all the participants good luck in their further endeavours.
